The Disability Rights Officer represents and advocates for students with disabilities at the University of Auckland. This role ensures that disabled students’ voices are heard and their needs prioritised in University decision-making, particularly within equity-related committees and working groups.
The Officer chairs the Disabled Students Subcommittee, works with AUSA staff to organise events, and builds relationships with University departments providing student support. They also play a vital role in developing a sense of community among disabled students while promoting awareness and inclusion across campus.
As a member of the AUSA Executive, the Disability Rights Officer attends meetings, contributes to advocacy initiatives, and supports wider AUSA events. This position combines representation, event organisation, and equity-focused leadership. Applicants must be students who self-identify as part of the disabled community.
