AUSA Buddy Programme
The AUSA Buddy Programme at the University of Auckland exists to help international students feel connected and supported as they settle into life in Aotearoa New Zealand. Through our buddy matching system, new international students (known as buddies) are paired with friendly, experienced students who can help them navigate university life, explore the city, and feel more at home. Whether it’s finding the best study spots on campus, learning Kiwi slang, or discovering local food, your buddy is here to make your transition smoother and more enjoyable.
Beyond one-on-one connections, the Buddy Programme also hosts social events and gatherings throughout the semester — from welcome mixers and cultural nights to relaxed hangouts and trips around Auckland. Our goal is to create a warm, inclusive community where everyone can belong, make friends, and share their cultures. We aim to be a home away from home for all international students — a place where you can connect, grow, and feel supported throughout your journey at the University of Auckland.
